A totally bizarre story on the BBC website.
A 13-year-old paperboy in Bedfordshire who takes home £6.53 a week is to be offered a redundancy package.
Kane Middleton received a formal letter which told him he was being laid off from his round in Clophill.
It outlined a redundancy package of "one week's pay in lieu of notice, which equates to £6.93 (subject to tax and NI)".
His employer is Letterbox Direct.
Speaking about receiving the letter, he said: "I got this piece of paper and I didn't really understand all the words.
Kane should not feel too aggrieved; Many of my clients be they mediating parties or legal clients often do not understand what they reeceive from the other side.
"I asked my mum and she told me I had been made redundant.
"I felt annoyed and upset."
Was it too much to speak to the paperboy, Kane?
His mother Jocelyn said she was disappointed that her son had received an "impersonal" letter.
Again, the number of times I have seen parties complain about what impersonal letters is huge.
In any event, the employer Letterbox Direct really do have to look at their staff interaction. The result has been damaging PR for them in an effort to be legally compliant.
